Syracuse, NY - The Electricians Joint Apprenticeship Committee of Syracuse, Local 43, will conduct recruitment from April 11 through September 17 for 25 apprentices, State Labor Commissioner M. Patricia Smith announced today.
Applications can be obtained the second Wednesday of each month, from 9am to noon, and 2pm to 6pm, at the John J. Barry Training Center, 4566 Waterhouse Road, Clay; and from 1pm to 4:30pm, at the NYS Office Building, 207 E. Genesee St., Suite 210A, Utica.
The committee requires that applicants:
Be at least 18 years old.
Have a high school or general equivalency diploma with one year of algebra, math I or first-year high school Regents math - transcript required after acceptance for the program.
Take an aptitude test.
Take a physical examination and a drug test at the committee's expense - if accepted for the program.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encourages to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
