New York State Department of Labor | Fri, June 13th, 2008Oswego, NY - The Plumbers and Steamfitters Joint Apprenticeship Committee, Local 73 (Oswego), will conduct recruitment from June 1, 2008 through May 31, 2009 for six apprentices, State Labor Commissioner M. Patricia Smith announced today.
Applications will be available at the local, 705 E. Seneca St., Oswego, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, weekdays during the recruitment period. Applications may also be obtained by writing to Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 73, P.O. Box 911, Oswego, NY 13126, or by calling 315-343-4037.
The committee requires that applicants:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have a high school or general equivalency diploma.
- Be physically able to do the work.
- Pass a drug test – after acceptance for the program.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
